What teachers, students and staff are included in your beat? What information and news value do you hope to get from interviewing them?

I think the school administration included the principles and the student council. Because in my opinion, the principles represent all the teachers, and the student council represents all the students. They know best about how to administrate people, and how to consider about everything, so they can represent all of us most.

Obviously, the news values I want to get from the interview are novelty, timeliness, proximity, impact, and prominence.

Because I think that they must know something strange, special, or interesting about the school and of course few people know that. Such as something happened when the Student Council was talking about the resolutions, or something came up with the principles minds when they were thinking about the school policies. That’s what I want for the novelty. It can show people a different aspect of those serious administrators of the school. Also we can know something important happened in their lifetime, which may help them becoming the administrators, the leader. It may help us become successful.

For timeliness, I want to know something new is going to happen which is important to our campus and our campus life before they have an announcement about it. It is like an exclusive news report. That’s going to be really fun! Because it will make me feel really like a journalist who is running around the world to find something attractive and tell people about it before anyone else. That’s the fastest way to make a journalist become successful as well. (Some journalists’ methods are not very good though. But I’m going to find my own exclusive news in a legal way.)

Although the news in our school won’t be prominent for the other people outside the school, it’s really important for us who work and study at school. I, as a journalist, can report the celebrations such as the sports meeting and so on. The report can be the results of the competition, or reviewing the whole celebrations. The most important part is the response of the administrators to the suggestion given by the audiences such as how do they think about some advice to improve the next celebration.

It is easy to find out why I considered impact as a news value as well. Whatever happened in our school must have something to with me. (Sometimes the influence is really little to me though.) Like some new policies the school will have in the future, some new dishes, recipes in the cafeteria, some new course will be set up, and so on. Every change may all have huge influence on everyone and me in the campus because we need to everything about the school to help us study and work in the school. It’s kind of timeliness, but not exactly. Impact is something has connected to our daily campus life no matter when. But timeliness must be the latest information.

Among all of those news values, I really want the timeliness most. The reason is that I want to be a good, successful journalist!! I RELLY HOPE THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION WILL HELP ME WITH MY GOAL!

1."The more comfortable you make they feel, the better interview automatically you will get."
According to Katie Couric, to conduct a good interview, the most important thing is to make the people feel free to talk and to answer those questions. If they actually don't want to answer those questions they may not give the exact answer. It's really terrible for the interviewer.Also, it will make the interview surrounding with dead air.That must not be a so-called good interview.

2."It’s very important to be empathetic."
I agree with this very much. If the interview is talking about some tragedy, it's not proper to talk with a high spirit. For example, some prominent people dead. It's really weird to talk like 'Oh!XXX is dead!LOL'  That will make people feel sick:' Why he/she can still talk like this?! Someone is dead!!So unbelievable.' To avoid that, choosing a proper tone is really important.

3.”I trying to ask a question without requiring a yes and no question.“
Like what Katie Couric said, a yes-no question is a disaster. 'Do you like xxx?''Yes.' It's hard to continue the conversation. The answer is too short. It's not right for the interviewer to talk more than the interviewee do in an interview. It will make the interview surrounding with dead air as well.

4.”In terms of body language I always trying to be warm and welcome.“
As I've learned in the Public Speaking Class, body language is one of the component part to have a speech. Body language helps us to emphasize the important part in a speech. Also,it can help us in the same way(to emphasize an important question) when we are conducting an interview. A warm welcome body language also helps the interviewee feel free and open to talk about the question.

5."Remember who are you serving, the audience.“
Among all the 5 points, this one is the most component main point. All those things are for conducting a good interview. Then what is a good interview for? To pleasure the audience. If the topic is something that audiences like, then the channel will be popular. If not, the audiences won't pay a penny for the interview. A good interviewer can dig more interesting facts from the interviewee to entertain the audiences.

This news is about a woman named Tayler Smith left for dead by friends after apparent asthma attack.

I think the journalist's writing type is that he uses many quote such as what the police said or what the girl's parents said.There are also included some description of the photo and some facts about the girl and other relating people.
I have to say,there's nothing to do with the journalist's own opinion.He is just retelling what happened.That's his writing style.

I think the reason he wrote like this is that this serious case is report on an newspaper and he needs to let people know what this case exactly is.If there are any opinion of his own,it may influence the readers' view.And the words said by those people is the best source to let other people know what happened.

I would like to say this kind of writing type is good for reporting a news like this case.

For the question'Was this story important to you?Why or why not?'

The story I chose is about Litianyi-A gangrape trail.This case has been happened for a long time.But still this news is pretty famous in China and also around world.Everyday I open the news website,the headline usually were about Li's case.Everyone wants to know what's the ending.So am I.That's one of the reason why this news is important to me.
And another reason is that I'm now studying on the awareness poster project for sexual health in Health Class now.So this case has something to do with it.

Why Litianyi's case is so famous now?The first reason is that he's the famous singer Lishuangjiang's son.People are usually interested in a famous person's relative did something bad than a normal people's.

And also,this case is complicated.At first,the gang didn't admit what they do and thought the victim was the real point.Then Li's mother told media something for her son, and made the case more intricate.

As far as I concern,this case is kind of punishing someone as a warning to others.Because this is a serious case.What's more,this is a case which can aware people that GBV(gender-based violence) is totally bad and keep away from it.

I don't think Li will win the case as the famous case Simpson's murder did and Chinese law will let this happen. I believe 'Every ill man has his ill days.'Just want to see the result.The course must going to give the right judgement.

This English assignment is for the English Course on 8/28/2013,Wednesday,Block 4 given by Mr.Manno.

I had my first English course today, and of course this is my first English Reflection-my first English assignment.Before answering those questions,I think I need to talk about something first.

My ambition is that I can speak English well.No need to be like the native speakers.I just need my English good enough to help me live in USA all by myself.So,the most thing I desired in this course is to practice my English,to improve it.Let it become my perfect tool.

To answer the first question 'What are you looking forward to in this class?'

I would like to have loads of reading in-class.My favorite kind of books must be the classical ones.The Great Gatsby-It's my favorite book!!!!But sadly,Mr.Manno told me that book is for G11.

Back to the topic.Besides the books.I would like Mr.Manno to give us more readings for the comprehension.I think I'm  really weak at this part.

So,I'm really,really looking forward to have books and reading practices in this class.:)

Now the second question.'What do you want to know?'

For me,I prefer to know about the classical literature ,cultures and the grammar things.I don't like grammar actually.But I dream is to become a translator for those prefect classical literatures both Chinese and English.So,the grammar must be strict so that the translation will be the most prefect one.Culture is also important.If I know nothing about it,I won't understand the background of the book and what is the book want to tell the generation.Of course,the translation won't be prefect.

'How can you be successful in English Class?'I think this one is the easiest to answer.

I just need to follow all the introductions mentioned in the syllabus and Mr.Manno ask me to do.Besides these,I need to participate,participate and participate.The more I joining in the class,the more  I will gain from my teacher and classmates.
